fGallery Widget
This is my first foray into creating a widget for WordPress. I became a big fan of Fredrik Fahlstad’s fGallery plug-in when I created the website for my family. And while it is very easy to use and integrate with just about any template, many folks were having difficulties getting it to work. Hence I decided to widgetize it.
fGallery currently provides two options for displaying thumbnails in the sidebar: random (regardless of the gallery) and recent (regardless of the gallery). It also provides the ability to set the number of thumbnails displayed in the sidebar and the size of the resultant thumbnail image. This plugin pretty much encapsulates all of that functionality into a easy-to-use widget.
For those unfamiliar with widgets, WordPress Widgets (WPW) is a plugin designed to provide a simple way to arrange the various elements of your sidebar content without having to change any code. You need to have the widgets plugin installed and activated in order to use this plug-in. You can find the widget plug-in and very detailed installation instructions from Automattic.
